Programme content
The six sessions follow a deliberate sequence.
The first two establish what machine learning is
and is not - covering supervised versus
unsupervised learning, training data, and model
outputs without requiring participants to write
any code. Sessions three and four turn to
natural language processing and computer vision,
using tools participants are likely to encounter
in their own workplaces.
The final two sessions address practical
concerns: how to evaluate whether an AI system
is performing reliably, and what questions a
non-technical professional should ask before
adopting an AI-powered product. In spring 2025
pilot testing, these sessions generated the most
discussion among 38 professionals from 4
different sectors.
"The people who came to us weren't looking for
a career change into data science. They wanted
to stop feeling lost when their organisation
started using AI tools. That's the problem we
built this around."

Delivery format and access
All sessions take place via the istoclaide live
webinar platform, accessible from any region
without specialist software. Participants
receive a session recording within 48 hours of
each live broadcast, available for 30 days. The
platform supports live polling, shared
annotation, and a structured Q&A queue -
features added in response to feedback from the
2024 pilot cohort.
Sessions are scheduled for Tuesday evenings at
19:00 CET, a time slot chosen after surveying
140 prospective participants about their
availability. istoclaide was founded in 2019 to
make specialist knowledge accessible to
professionals outside major urban centres, and
this programme reflects that focus.
